About the report
I was the lead facilitator and writer for this report.This report is the first of its kind created for, by, and about TGNC families.The Transgender Strategy Center convened a Think Tank to discuss the needs, desires, and strengths of TGNC families. All Think Tank members identified as members of TGNC families and the majority identified as TGNC. In addition to expertise based on lived experience, Think Tank members brought
a diversity of professional expertise to the table. Think Tank members are community organizers and advocates, birth workers, political strategists, physicians and health professionals, consultants, educators, influencers, and more.With an expansive definition of family, the Think Tank investigated the current state of TGNC families and the ways our communities can be supported. We identified the importance of solidarity within and among many different kinds of families, the key role of strengthening intergenerational resourcing, the need to raise the bar on allyship, and, most importantly, the right to care for those we love.TGNC families in all of their forms are pillars of the TGNC community and beacons of safety for TGNC people.
